The indelible sounds of hip-hop, punk and jazz collide on Jean Paul Agambi Quartet’s debut single for Tricky’s False Idols label.

A trio of stirring and contemplative tracks can be found on the wonderfully titled ‘Atomic Urban Extravaganza’, its musical roots lying between Glasgow and Barcelona, the respective residing cities of key JPAQ personnel Elle and Flavio Ferri, as well as additional brass courtesy of Simone Trovato.

Conceived as a playful concept project, with a fictional character at its centre, Jean Paul Agambi Quartet fuse modern electronics, alternative rock and jazz-funk, turning in a trio of compelling songs laced with ambiguous lyrics.

It’s an assured debut from JPAQ that finds a perfect home on Tricky’s False Idols label that has seen recent acclaimed releases from the likes of Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Marta, Lonely Guest, and Tricky himself.
